Simon is a musician and guitar instructor located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Since beginning to teach guitar in 1994, Simon has helped many students reach their guitar playing goals in a variety of styles including rock, blues, and jazz and fingerstyle. Simon has taught the guitar in a variety of places over the years, including music shops and at some of Melbourne's and Australia's most prestigious schools including Xavier College and Loreto Mandeville Hall.
Simon currently owns and runs Simon Candy School of Guitar where he teaches beginner to advanced guitar lessons to people of all ages. Simon's teaching methods have helped his students learn to play the music they love whilst having a lot of fun. Jam sessions, where students get to play with a real band, are a regular event on the school's calendar, and an integral part of Simon's philosophy of teaching students to apply the skills they learn in their lessons.
Simon studied jazz and popular music at Box Hill TAFE in 1998, and has also studied in the Music Career Mentoring Program (MCMP) and the Elite Guitar Teachers Inner Circle (EGTIC) under master guitarist and teacher Tom Hess (Rhapsody of Fire and HolyHell). He has conducted masterclasses in Chicago, USA, for acoustic guitar playing in both 2014 and 2015.
Simon has played in many bands over the years in both rock, acoustic, and jazz/blues styles. He has played with some of Australia's finest musicians and is currently performing in an acoustic trio.
Simon also has an acoustic song on the 2011 compilation album "One World, Many Stories".
