Things-Beginner-Guitar-Players-Should-DoIn this video, you learn 5 things I wish I had known when I first began learning guitar.

As a beginner, it is very easy to do things either the hard way or just flat out wrong. It’s only in hindsight that we can see how much better we could have gone about things.

In this lesson, you learn the 5 things I wish I had known as a beginner guitarist to help you avoid the mistakes I made including:

1. Basic music theory

You can do an incredible amount with just the basics of music theory. Avoiding theory limits your guitar playing greatly.

2. Using a metronome

This is essential if you want to develop good time, and good time is an absolute must as a musician.

3. Learning the note names on the guitar

Knowing the note names on the guitar makes life so much easier. It’s the difference between being able to apply the theory you learn and not. It is also essential to find things on the fretboard like scale patterns and chords.

4. Get a great teacher

You can learn guitar the hard way and try and go it alone, or you can make life a lot easier by finding a good teacher who knows how to make you a better player.

5. Slow things down

Perhaps the most important thing of all. You must start by playing things slowly. This is the number one reason why a lot of people fail at guitar.
