Fingerpicking Patterns Guitar Article Page PicIn this video, I show you the key to fingerpicking any pattern you like on guitar.

There are thousands of fingerpicking patterns out there, however there are only 3 actual approaches to fingerpicking.

By focusing on each of these approaches you gain the technique required to fingerpick any pattern you like. Reducing fingerpicking down to its most basic form helps you see the simplicity, making things easier to learn.

Fingerpicking Pattern Approach 1: Single Notes

This first approach is centred around patterns that involve plucking individual strings, one at a time.

You learn some key patterns and an example of a fingerpicking progression using such patterns.

Fingerpicking Pattern Approach 2: Notes Together

The second approach is centred around patterns that involve plucking multiple strings together.

You learn some key patterns and an example of a fingerpicking progression using such patterns.

Fingerpicking Pattern Approach 3: Pinching

The third approach is centred around patterns that involve pinching two strings together.

For this approach you will use you thumb and one other finger. Once again, you learn some key patterns and an example of a fingerpicking progression using this technique.
