Play Better Rhythm Guitar Article PicIn this video, you learn how to play better rhythm guitar. Playing rhythm guitar is what you do most of the time, even if you are a lead guitarist, so it makes sense to work on it.

However, many people lack in this area of playing, failing to do much else than play basic strumming patterns with open and bar chords.

In this lesson, I sit down with songwriting mastery coach Diana de Cabarrus to discuss and demonstrate how to play better rhythm parts on guitar.

We discuss and demonstrate various rhythm guitar skills and techniques including:

• Developing contrasting guitar parts through the use of dynamics

• Creating various levels of rhythm density (how many notes you are playing, and how you are playing them)

• Integrating the parts of other instruments into your rhythm playing including bass lines, and strumming techniques to emulate percussion

We will use excerpts from actual songs to demonstrate this, as well as show you how to practice all aspects of rhythm guitar playing that extend beyond the obvious.
